Doesn’t help the OP, but I did 80 days in Spain, 5 days in France, 80 days in Cyprus, 15 days in Spain just after lockdown travel restrictions ended.

I did a modicum of research and looked like it was legal to do so. I did get stamps on entering and exiting each country.

    The 90/180 started on 1st January 2021

Spain do a digital nomad visa. Your employers permission is needed and a good wage:

    https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Consulados/londres/en/ServiciosConsulares/Paginas/Consular/Digital-Nomad-Visa.aspx

Same in Croatia, but you just need proof of funds (EUR34.4k). So better for freelancers with savings:

Dutch customs into ijmuden two years ago checked every car.

blimey, we go to NL &/or Be 4 or 5 times a year and after pre-tunnel faffing have never been stopped or checked on any of the FR/BE or BE/NL borders (except about 10 years ago where French Plod checked for tobacco on a back road from BE (but not passports). Guess I should consider myself very lucky / outwardly trustworthy in appearance…….

We chose to have our freedoms removed

And those of U.K. citizens  that were living in the E.U, we could work in other countries outside our host country prior to your decision that didn’t get a vote. 🙂

Well i’m going to try that UK-Ireland-France trick! Ive been Liverpool-Belfast and Stena line insisted on seeing my passport, although it’s all part of the UK

Two weeks ago I went to Dublin on the Holyhead ferry – they just glimpsed at my.passport as I got onto the ferry and there seemed to be no record of who I was.

I then got a train down to Cork and a week later sailed our race boat back from Cork to N Wales.

So, if they did record my entry they definitely didn’t record me leaving – maybe they think I’m still there?!

Isn’t it incumbent on you to notify the relevant authorities that you’re leaving on a small boat? As opposed to via the mainstream ways of leaving a country.

I know when I sailed to Gibraltar from Falmouth, stopping in various countries on the way down, we had to notify the authorities that we were leaving and arriving at each stop.

My cousin is currently looking into getting herself a digital nomad visa to aid her travels.

A lot of the DN visas are only for the country you apply to and don’t grant you unlimited access to other EU countries.

You’ll also have to have some sort of residence /address in the country.

yep they also require you to have,be earning a reasonable amount and have private health insurance, they aren’t designed to let you bum around the country on peanuts.(The 90/180 rule also applies to leaving the host and you (and the Spanish one requires you to  spend 6 months in the country)

TBH for either if you have the ‘coin’ for either you could apply for a NLV (non lucrative visa) and not work just arse about.

Even if you don’t exceed 90 days, it looks like you’ll need to apply for a visa waiver to visit most of Europe from 2025 – https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx29nzd1drgo

I was going through passport control in Faro Airport in January.

There was a well dressed, late middle aged English woman at the desk.

She was getting absolute pelters of the official for staying more than 90 days.

Not sure what the final outcome was but my guess was she thought no-one would care or check. This bloke obviously did.
