I'm sure this must have been done before, but a quick search didn't help.

I've got a new Garmin 1000 & whilst it's uploading rides to Garmin Connect no problem, nothing is appearing in Strava.

I've linked my Strava account to my Garmin Connect account via settings/link to other services, but still no joy.

What am I doing wrong & how can I get the 3 rides currently sitting on the Garmin into Strava?

Cheers

(Ps I'm a self-confessed techno-moron, so feel free to take the piss if it's something really obvious...)

It's not you, it's Garmin. Did you chant the incantations correctly? Have you made an appropriate blood sacrifice? Are you sure she was really a virgin?

Tried to link mine last night and nothing happened, so I suspect it's the Garmin end that is wonky

With your Garmin connected to your computer, go to "upload activity". I think if you then go to "device" -> "Garmin" it'll insist on the Garmin Connect route, which isn't working for you.

But if you instead go to "file" you should be able to browse the folders of your Garmin (which should be showing up as external storage on your computer) and select the files you want. (I'm afraid I can't recall the folder structure in the Garmin.)

Does that make sense?

Thanks BigDummy - I've only used Garmin Connect on my iPad so I'll have to try this on the laptop later.

Plug the Garmin into the laptop and it should recognise it as an external drive.
Go to Strava > upoload activity > get started (under the Garmin logo). It will ask you to either connect with Garmin or upload files directly.
Select the direct upload, find the Garmin folder under "my computer" and the ride should be saved as a .fit file in Garmin > Activities.

Click the ride and Strava will do the rest. My Garmin long ago gave up syncing with Garmin Express, I've always used the direct upload (mostly cos I hate the bug-ridden piece of crap thsat is the Garmnin Express site.

Old school! Its all apps and Bluetooth uploads now BD.

My app updated last night, had to remove the previous Bluetooth connections and set it up again for it to download from the device. Didn't have any issues auto sending to strava though.

In the past when rides havnt instantly appeared in strava from connect it can take 12-24 hrs before they finally mysteriously appear. If this doesn't happen then they have probably missed the auto-sync window and you would need to upload them into strava manually (though you could try deleting from Garmin connect and re-uploading from the device, not sure about that though).

in my case it failed connecting from Strava to Garmin, but it works when using Garmin Connect on my mobile and Setting -> 3rd Party Apps -> Strava.

I had loads of problems with syncing Garmin & Strava so decided to load onto computer & then onto Strava.
Make folder onto Desktop name it (bike Rides)or what ever you fancy, Plug Garmin into computer go to Activities Copy ride / rides then paste into desktop folder; open Strava click upload / click files / click browse find bike ride folder D/Click ride to upload done. It may look a lot to do but takes about 30 / 60 seconds, after a few uploads when you press browse it will take you straight to the bike ride folder. 😀
