Got a new Scandal frame with headset recently from on-one. Local bike shop have fitted it but there’s a 4-5mm gap between the race and top of the headtube. Is this normal?

Been back to the shop and they assure me it is, as there’s a step in the headtube.

Should this cause me any issues? Or do I need a different headset?

    cheers

That not right. Either your head tube wasn’t reamed properly or you have brought a deep headset.

true, just looks a bit odd.
may look at a different headset if/when I get some suspension forks for it 🙂
