Great fight, referee stopped what would have been a spectacular knockout.Rightly so though I think as that could have been dangerous. So glad usyk won, hope he retires know.

OK – I’m no serious boxing follower but have just watched the highlights of the 9th round. Never seen anything like that before. Pretty much every time I’ve seen a boxer in trouble like Fury was the referee would have given Usyk a couple more blows to confirm it was only going one way and then stepped in and called it off. Not given him a super slow standing count. And he also seemed to get in the way a bit as Usyk got to work on him too. As I say – I know next to nothing but that didn’t seem right.

Glad the result went the way it did, if only for the lack of class Fury showed during then after the fight.

I’m no expert either but I think the difference is that Fury would have been on the floor had the ropes not been there, so it gets treated as a knockout (he was falling like a tree when he landed in the ropes). If he’d stayed on his feet I think it would’ve been stopped because he clearly couldn’t defend himself by that point.

As above I think the ropes holding him up meant it was considered a knock down
