From today, I can now enter competitions as a Super Vet.

A silver lining to every cloud.

you can hope, older mtb-ers if they’re still riding, are even more tenacious 😉

Yup, the older you get, the less unfit guys there are racing.

Doesn’t everybody change category on 1st January?

    Happy birthday though old man.

Steve Worland once told me that the racing gets harder over 50 due to the number of people who’ve taken early retirement and basically cycle full time. 😥
    I’m 56 BTW.

Edit: Just re-read the post, Super Vet or Grand Vet?

Yep, it’s generally 1st Jan on the year you turn x.

I’m guessing Super Vet as in 60, which is a separate cat a the Nationals and few other races. Not the same as the Gorrick Super Vets which is a faster 4 lap category for vets. Confusing? Nah!

    OP here,
I was just going off the Dudes of Hazzard enduro categories which puts Super Vet at 50 – which is what I am (as of today)

Sadly looks like I am not off to the Dudes Enduro, A shame as the worst I could was 7th in category.

Half the 50+ category have retired early and ride over 200 miles a week on the road ,usually with the fit old blokes in their 60s .One of my mates is 69 and is on for 7000 miles this year.135 miles a week sometimes more as he puts the odd 100 miler in !
