I’ve just brought a Cannondale Scalpel frame and headshock off this very forum. It is looking a little tired and I’ve been looking at getting it resprayed. After a quick conversation with one resprayer it seems that to get the fork resprayed it would have to come apart entirely. Theres no way I’m going to take a headshock apart so that may be out of the window. Is it possible to strip the frame and leave it as bare alloy or am I asking for trouble? Has anyone tried this themselves?

    I await your collective wisdom

    HI fella.

If your cutting corners just mask all the other stuff off on the forks .

I have resprayed many forks even PIKES without taking to bits.
just have to take care in masking the parts off a little better.
i find masking tape which can be twisted/curved is beter.Halfords do it..

If you spend your time in spraying at least 3-4 coats of main colour then 2 -3 coats of clear your sorted.wet sand last coat with 800 paper

Sprayed these forks a while back ..there still ok…
