MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
I've recently built up a new SC Nomad but I'm not getting on the with standard shock, which is a rockshox monarch plus debonair.
I'm looking to replace it with either a Fox Float X2 or a CCDBA cs. My last bike had the CCDBA cs on it so I know how good it is but does anyone have any views on the Fox Float X2' pros/cons etc?
Cheers
Having had a CCDB CS on a Nomad, and an X2 on another bike I would say the X2, for sure.
But then I would seriously consider the DHX2 coil on the Nomad instead of an air shock.
But both the aforementioned air shocks would be an improvement on the Monarch IMO.
X2 doesn't appear to be holding Arron Gwin back, probably custom tuned but never the less.
Out if interest anyone using a ccdb air in downhill?
Thats not a sly dig at the CCDB air by the way, genuinely wondering whether anyone's running one.
Go for the float x2 on a nomad. Will make the bike feel a million times better. Wasn't happy at all with the monarch so swapped it for the x2 and have never looked back. Doesn't need that shitting climb switch either
I'll be at bike park Wales tomorrow if you're anywhere near, you're welcome to have a bash
Thanks for the replies. Seriously tempted now!
What eye to eye is the nomad?
Not tried the X2 but why is it better not to have a climb function??
moseyMTB it's 216x63 I think.
Andylc - that's the one thing that concerns me about the X2 although I've heard folk say it doesn't really need it.
Someone in LBS said to me today that I should wait and get one of the new coil shocks with lock out. Got me thinking that has......
Have a nomad warranty frame on the way so shock less. Was asking this very question of one of the technicians at TF tuned. They were x2 all the way.
Having just got a coil shock for my bike to play with, I'd wait for a climb switch of sorts if you're considering one. I forgot how much they bob. Saying that, it does feel great especially over fast repeated hits.
VPP bikes are also great with coils as they have a progressive end to their stroke helping the fact that the coil will be more linear than the air.
Doesn't really answer the original question though eh. Sorry!
Not tried the X2 but why is it better not to have a climb function??
Because you don't really need it?
I had it on mine, used it maybe once or twice and never bothered after.
X2 doesn't have one, never felt the need for one on current bike.
If it wasn't there I probably wouldn't have missed it, but it does work very well, just makes climbing that bit more efficient. Especially out of the seat climbing. Personally I think it's a very well executed option and I use it a lot.
