Hi ,

My Rp23 started spewing red oil from behind the damping knob .It seems one of the seals is gone .

Its going to cost me €130 to get it fixed .

I see a New Fox Float CTD for €110

Is this a better shock , will it fit my bike and be a good replacement ? anything I should look out for ?

Cheers ,

J

Ok I see now that I have to get an exact match for this shock so the ceap stuff on ebay is out and getting the shoxk serviced is the way forward

My RP23 started sounding squelchy so used the same logic as you and bought a used CTD. Obviously the length and stroke have to match the old one, but I figured getting the correct matching custom tune was probably impossible so ended up with one tuned for another make of bike (4 digit code on shock)

Overall still a vast improvement. I did get an LV can rather than matching the old HV one and it now has much better support.

The Climb/Trail/Descent lever is fairly subtle in its operation so dont expect a full lockout on climb.

I found the CTD a distinct downgrade from the RP23. On either I'd recommend getting it pushed/shimmed/tuned for your bike as part of a service.

Will depend on the bike of course but a tuned shock will nearly always be a vast improvement on an off the shelf tune.
