  • Forks question – fix the old ones or buy some new (or 2nd hand) ones to replace

This is a real dilemma for me.
A good friend gave me his old pair of Pace RC40 forks. I sent them back to Pace for a service but they need a lot more doing that I had anticipated. In total they've quoted me £250 for a total overhaul (the stanchions are loose in the crown and that quote is for replacing everything except the lowers!)

For that kind of money, would I be better trying to get another fork or should I get the Pace forks fixed?

You'd get a decent set of second hand RC40s for about £100 to £150 on the classifieds…

I wouldn't pay anyone that makes forks with loosening stanchions.
