😲 Is that a fixed or variable interval? I’d trust the engine sensors to determine when it needs changing based on the condition, (lots of stop-start city and short journeys would hugely reduce it) but no way would I blindly wait for 30,000 especially on a high performance turbo engine.

I was wondering how the engine is sensing the oil “quality” to create variable service intervals? Is it carbon content?

My van is an ’08 and figured its just on the odometer. It counts down from 20k mile but I change it every 10k. I reckon its past its best by 6k.

Yeah, I said sensor, but sensing is prob more accurate. As far as I can find out, it’s an algorithm based on oil temp cycles, (so one sensor at least) load, acceleration and other engine duty data. Unusually Google doesn’t really offer much information.
