    Make that 30 mins

    Make that 45 minutes

Gotta knock this static pass it along the lines business on the head – when there’s movement, there’s promise. Just not enough movement.

Mainoo on for more than the last 5 minutes? This is revolutionary stuff!

Poor old Gallagher. Another experiment failed.

Has anyone in an England shirt ever taken a free kick before? It doesn’t look like it.

As a Newcastle fan I love Kieran Trippier for all he does and has done for the Toon. But that freekick was just **** dreadful.

Gordon coming on with a couple of minutes left. If I were him I’d tell him to do one.

These Balkan sides are pretty good anyway.

Why is Leandro Trossard reffing this game?

FFS! What is the point of bringing TAA and Gordon on for 2 minutes?! Isn’t it Slovenia that are meant to be running the clock down with pointless substitutions?

We played better when Southgate wore a waistcoat? Can someone at the FA get one delivered?

I knew that his choice of fitted summer knitwear was a mistake

    That was absolutely dire! Again!

At least they’re safe to bet on. My 0-0 came in but it was only 3/1, which tells you what the bookies think of Engerland

That was dull.  4 out of 10, should do better.

    Real headscatcher that. 2 minutes.

And funnily enough Gordon did more in two mins than Bellingham did in 90. Southgate can do one.

I suspect this thread will be full of doom and gloom but topped the group, undefeated, better half of the draw. I’ll take that at this stage.

Lot more lively than the Denmark match without much extra to show for it. Subs done good.

    On we go… 🙂

     Jaysus lads.

Hopefully Ireland can do better. We’ll cheer them on, when are they playing? 😉

Had to check whether Kane was still on at the end.

Roy Kent’s assessment should be fun.

England qualify as worst group winners. Just like every other tournament they’ve played in under Southgate I find myself wanting them not to progress because they simply don’t deserve it.

Shocking performance – Palmer and Marino only redeeming performances. Southgate will spend the next few days providing excuses for his team selection and tactics (although I’m not sure there were any). I always wonder why I put myself through watching England – been doing it for 50 years and can can count on one hand the number of games which have been really exciting with great skills and a decent result.

First decent side they come up against, they’re on the next flight home

    From Twitter..

Jude Bellingham for England vs. Slovenia:

    ▫️ 0 shots
    ▫️ 0 chances created
    ▫️ 0 successful tackles
▫️ 0 passes completed into attacking third
▫️ 12% of his passes went forward
▫️ 22% duels won (worst on team)
▫️ 16 times possession lost (most on team)

And yet we all know he will play every minute of this tournament. Drop him for Foden, put Gordon on the left. So obvious it’ll never happen.

Is that the lowest scoring group?

    @binners
you need to change your bookies then! I got 17/4 on a draw, didn’t even need to pick the score!

The usual bare minimum to squeak thru then gracefully duck out without getting pilloried, to enjoy the maximum summer holls, before reporting back for pre-season training.

Re the set pieces.  I blame Southgate  on this but every corner and free kick in the vicinity of a corner was an out-swinger.  The stats guys will point to the fact that in-swingers have a much higher success rate.  Case in point is that Arsenal the PL’s pre-eminent exponents of corners last season used out swingers about two or three times out of a total of over 200 corners.

    Drop him for Foden

ehhh? They were both playing at the same time.  Unless you mean playing Foden more centrally?

Bellingham has been utterly underwhelming in the last two games.

Southgate is just trolling all you Alf Garnets.

Yes that’s exactly what I mean. On that performance Bellingham doesn’t deserve a place in the team, especially when we have a world class replacement in the form of Foden. Drop Bellingham, shift Foden into the no 10 position with Gordon and Palmer on the flanks, Mainoo and Rice behind them. They’ll win with that team. I’d also replace Kane with Watkins but I can see that’s way too radical for most people let alone Southgate.

I have a sneaky feeling that dropping Bellingham would be a shade too radical for Gareth.

Bellingham already has the look of an overblown prima donna. At least Beckham and others earned their positions, all Bellingham has done is get a very expensive move to Real Madrid.
