    Witht he recent nice weather the flies in our conservatory are already starting to do my head in.

    I’ve made one of these:

    and baited it with a a syrup made form 1 part sugar to two parts water. Why isn’t it working?!

    Might be wrong kind of bait for the flies, syrupy stuff is good for fruit flies , you may have a totally different variety.

    The “zero calorie” on the side of the bottle might be a clue. Why would a fly bother with something that contained no sugar ?

    You need a venus fly trap and/or any other type of carnivorous plant. Just add water and let nature take its course.

    I would have a look on Maplins for a UV insect zapper. I picked one up for £20 last year. Well worth it. Snap, crackle, pop.
    Anyone for Eccles cake?

    I have a cheap UV fly killer from Lidl. It’s killed about 3 flies in as many years. What you need are spiders.
