Has anyone any knowledge/experience with floodlighting trees?

No idea about electronics, so don’t know what I should be looking for. Are LED lamps any good (thinking about running costs…)

Thought I’d see if Deal Extreme had anything suitable and came across these… LINK

Are they up to the job?

    Thanks in advance…

Could you not just have a really good look at them in daylight?

How will they sleep if they are lit up, poor trees.

    Exactly.

The massive waste of energy that is lighting things up at night that don’t need to be lit up (like trees, buildings and the insides of closed shops) is one of the things that will be banned When I Am King Of The World.

I want to watch live squirrel porn at night… It helps me achieve “satisfaction”.

Spot on. Is this considered acceptable in this modern age of environmental responsibility?
Don’t even get me started on “architectural lighting”. 👿

The level of self righteous pomposity on this forum never fails to amaze me. I just want to install some floodlights in my wood for when I’m entertaining – make it look more atmospheric and a safer place for the kids to play…

Ah, now, you see, that’s the thing with enviromental responsibility. Everyone says it’s an excellent idea, except of course when they want to do something that is enviromentally irresponsible…

Some info from a supplier I used when I did this sort of thing :-

If you want to light your garden make sure you’re only lighting your bit of it and not beaming 500W into next door’s bedroom etc.

Well, apologies for the assumption that I may have jumped to, but you didn’t say that did you.

    And my point stands.

Really? Care to give (or force upon) us your views on religion(again)?
You want to burn carbons so that your tree looks pretty. You will never be able to justify that to me.

Standards are slipping on STW. A few weeks back I posted a pic of 2 women innocently kissing and it got pulled.

Post a pic of 2 Squirrels humping and thats ok 🙄

On second thoughts, can’t you get your child under to stand there and hold a torch? The kids are playing on their own so she’s free anyway, right?

You could contact Muncaster Castle in Eskdale – they’ve put lots of lights like that in fairly recently

I’d have thought dogging was better in the dark? Making it light kind of removes the edge, or so i’ve heard.

All outdoor electrical works is notifiable to Local Area Building Authority and should be undertaken by a suitably qualified person. Also, suitable protection MUST be included in the design of the circuit.

LED Floods are good and reasonably economical. Metal Halide floods are also very economical.

Dogging is best performed in the dim glow of a car’s interior light. Barbecues and squirrel voyeurism is best performed in the environmentally irresponsible glow of metal halide it would appear.
