    Hi, I managed to get my first tubeless puncture yesterday, unfortunately a small piece of slate embedded it’s self in the tyre putting a small slit (approx. 1/2 cm) just of the centre which the sealant couldn’t seal.

    I managed to put 2 small bacon strips in, re-inflate the tyre and cycled the last 10 minutes to the car (I was right at the very end of my ride any way) without any issues.

    Now……..the tyre is still fully inflated 24+ hours later and the bacon strips seem to be well seated (The ride to the car was over rough rock gardens and a couple of fairly big jumps). Should I:

    A. Leave everything as it currently is and carry on using the tyre.

    B. Remove the bacon strips, clean the inside of the tyre and use an old fashioned puncture repair kit to glue a patch on the inside.

    C. Replace the tyre

    I always assumed the bacon strips were a temporary “Get you home repair” but the tyre is still holding air.

    I would repair that from the inside.
    A tyre boot.

    You can buy very strong patches for it.

    I’ve had bacon strips that have lasted as long as the tyre. OTOH I also have tyre (mushroom) plugs that can be bought for buttons on eBay and definitely a more permanent lookin solution. Just take care to buy small ones as most are meant for cars

    I’d definitely replace that with a mushroom plug. Anchovies can last forever, but sometimes they don’t, mushrooms are stronger than the tyre was before the flat. Also it looks nicer!

    Cheers, guessing something like this would do the trick?

    I’ve got a motorcycle repair shop just up the road and I’m guessing they’ll have similar patches I could use.

    The link you have is to the right things. They come in different diameters for the protruding rubber. I think the 3mm are most useful. I’ve got some coming from ebay at the minute.

    You can also get thick patches for internal repairs, like those used on tubes. I used one last year after slicing my G1 Bites. The repair is solid.

    There are videos on GMBN for this. It’s a faff, but it’ll mean you keep your tyre.

    I had something similar on my gravel bike a few months ago, just a few km into a 100km ride. Something cut a slit into the tyre that was about 5mm long – sealant everywhere! I put two dynaplug tails into it and finished the ride with no problems, it’s still holding air months later. To be honest I’d forgotten about it until I saw this thread. I’ll not bother disturbing it.
