Loddrik’s things question had me thinking.

What films have been made more than twice?

The Thing is a good example.
I am Legend is another. (Last man on earth and then The Omega man)

Any others? I guess if a story is good enough, it will be remade a number of times.

    Hit me with the rest.

El Mariachi (kinda – each sequel was a semi-remake, according to Rodriguez).
Most obviously, Let the Right One In (Swedish version, English remake, godawful US remake to come)

Bet there’s a few Sherlock Holmes stories that have been filmed a few times – must have seen four or five versions of the Hound of the Baskervilles.

Must be a few film versions of Wuthering Heights (I know a new one has just come out) and some Dickens stuff must have been filmed several times – A Christmas Carol seems to get remade every couple of years:

    Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
Hasn’t been remade ever.. but there are about 4 movies, all of completely different plots witht he same name.
    I find it interesting.

It looks like A Star is Born is going to be made for the fourth time (in English) staring Beyonce.

I think 1984 has been remade more than twice, but I’ll have to check. The last version I saw had John Hurt in, but I remember seeing a black and white version a few years ago.

Films of classic books/plays etc must surely be discounted, since they are not remakes as such, are they? Just new interpretations.

King Kong is a good one.

Another obvious one though – War of the Worlds.

The Count of Monte Cristo – strictly speaking these aren’t remakes of a film, just different films of a book.
