Oh.. Anyone seen that film with Johnny Depp as John Dillinger? Apparently they hunted all over America for a town centre with suitable period shop frontage and ended up in the next town over from where my wife grew up and where her family all live. My sister in law’s friend worked in a cafe that features heavily, and had its windows replaced with smashable movie glass so stuntmen could be thrown through them.

Absolutely loads all around where I live, Corsham, Lacock, Castle Combe, Biddestone, Bath and various other locations for the likes of Dr. Doolittle (the first one, a friend of mine was an extra), Poirot, Warhorse, Stardust, Wolfman, The Suspicions Of Mr Whitcher, Harry Potter, Robin Hood, (the TV series with the Clannad theme), Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, Moll Flanders, Wolf Hall, Dr Thorne, Poldark, Far From The Madding Crowd (Julie Christie/Alan Bates), The Other Boleyn Girl, Cranfield…
Oh, and a Japanese animé, Kiniro Mosaic, had pretty much the whole first episode based entirely on a friend of mine’s hotel/restaurant, exterior and interior, and her 1954 Morris Minor as well. She’s getting an awful lot of Japanese otaku booking stays there, as it’s pretty much unique in that a setting shown in an animé is a place that can not only be visited, but you can sleep in the bedroom of one of the principal characters and eat in the dining room.

We’ve had Sense and Sensibility, Emilia Fox’s Rebecca, and Ioan Gruffydd’s Hornblower. It is also still attracting attention of makers of the Rosamunde Pilcher films, and the comic strip “the Hunt for Tony Blair”. There is a load of location vehicles in and out at the weekend recently, but not sure what’s being done. – No one famous spotted:-/

The new series of Agatha Raisin starts on Sky 1 on June 7, here’s Ashley Jensen as Agatha sitting outside the village pub, the White Horse, which also happens to be my regular drinking spot, although normally without some random bod dressed as a Green Man…

I used to live around the corner from the house that Adam and Rachel (Cold Feet) lived in as a couple, I think they also used the local pub. This was also a stones throw away from a series in the 90s centering around the gay community with that fella from Neighbours.

We have lots of things filmed around here – This is England 86 probably the most widely recognised…the place has a distinctive look to put it nicely

The Seven Sisters and Birling Gap, usually crawling with Chinese as apparently some hugely successful film in China was filmed here. Also life and loves of a she devil featured Birling Gap lighthouse before it was moved.

Not just filmed in, but set in:

Harry is a television drama series that was made by Union Pictures for the BBC, and shown on BBC One between 1993 and 1995. The programme concerned a journalist called Harry Salter (played by Michael Elphick) who ran a news agency in the English town of Darlington in England.

And some of the bits of The Fast Show, where Paul Whitehouse shouts “brilliant!”

Used to work near Leadenhall Market in London which has been used in many films including as Diagon Alley in Harry Potter, also the scene in Bridget Jones in the snow was filmed just off Cornhill and the Corn Exchange.

Many films made around Surrey Hills, The Holiday (Diaz seen around Guildford quite a bit), Bridget Jones 2 wedding in Shere etc.

Cathedral in Guildford used in The Omen is probabky the best claim

Friend lives on The Thames and saw the James Bond scenes from the last film being shot one evening.

Why do you think I bought a CX for CX riding in Nene Park or Rutland Water.

Far too fat to be a roadie 🙁 yet perfect for road rides.

Well the Antiques Roadshow will be at the Showground in Sept…

I live at the top of Scapegoat Hill. Where the Heart is was filmed a few hundred yards away, the Local Shop For Local People is within a mile or two, Summer Wine country is the next valley or so over, Happy Valley was more or less next door. I overlook a house which is regularly used as a location shot, and Jericho viaduct was built in a quarry where I walk the dog every day.( The one which the Colne Valley MTB challenge goes through) Worst of all my lad and I had spent many a happy hour digging a series of steps and drop offs in there, and the **** built the viaduct right on top of them.

Used to live near Ashridge (Harry Potter, Star wars etc. – wandered into the set of Robin Hood while it was being filmed) and work in Slough (near Pinewood and Burnham Beeches). Ashridge sits above Aldbury – location for several films and TV, including Bridget Jones.

Actually had a car crash outside Stoke Poges church, where Roger Moore is paying his respects at the start of For Your Eyes Only, which backs onto Stoke Poges gold course (Goldfinger, Goldeneye, Layercake etc.)

Grew up in Essex where Lovejoy was filmed – one of pub interiors was a schoolfriend’s Dad’s pub, although when filmed leaving Lovejoy walked out onto a street several miles away.

Slightly OT, but an ex was an art director on Dr. Who and Holby City too. My name appeared as both a patient in HC and on a flyer for a club night in the Kylie Dr. Who.

Cardington Hangars have been mentioned a couple of times on here. They’ve been used for lots of films. As has the Shuttleworth collection for vintage flying scenes.

Millbrook Proving ground was used for the flippy over Aston Martin scene in Casino Royale. They’ve filmed lots of car programmes there too. One of my mates is in the Army and flies helicopters. They did an exercise at Millbrook the same time as a Top Gear night scene was being filmed. he took Clarkson up for a ride and sent him away staggering about to be sick.

Some Mothers Do Ave Em was filmed in Bedford

The scene where Faisal blows himself and a sheep up in Four Lions was shot just down the road from me in Sheffield. I was cycling home from work the day they filmed it, and was stopped by the police for safety reasons til they’d done the explosion.

Unbelievably parts of superman 4 were filmed at my school (new build campus back In the 80,s) in Milton Keynes. The great man himself mr reeve was suspended from a bloody huge crane on our sports field for about 3 days. You couldn’t get near him for all the mums camped round it.

Me and some others were filmed playing American footy (cut from final film). They also shot scenes at MK train station too.

    Truly awful firm though.

Better than that though my old local was used in with nail and I ( the crown in stony Stratford) as was the local chemist with was a tea shop then.

They’re filming now up on Winterfold for something.

Did some filming up there last year as well, I think for Beauty and the Beast. Lots of lighting rigs in the woods near Northern Monkey, along with a few carriages.

Clash Of The Titans 2 was partly filmed up on Redlands near Coldharbour, a scene involving a cyclops? Haven’t actually watched it, but chatted to the guards about it.

Another Cardiffian here, they were filming Casualty last weds eve at my local riding place, they’ve also films lots of Merlin and some Doc who up there.

Wesley Snipes filmed some God Awful straight to DVD action thing here once, back in his “do anything for a paycheck before the IRS throw me in prison” phase.

Sean Bean and Bob Hoskins made another crappy bargain basement film here too, I haven’t seen it, but I suspect Bean dies early on.

But best of all, Samantha Janus and Neil Morreay made a film called ‘Up n’ Under’ here when I was in school, it’s set “oop north” but filmed in Cardiff – it’s terrible, save for the bit when Sam gets her boobs out – a part of it was filmed in my Mate’s house.

As others have said, there’s always something being filmed around here.

Opening scenes from American Warewolf in London… “Don’t stray from the path”.

Filmed on the pass at the top of my valley. The same stretch of road features in the opening credits of the Antiques Roadshow with the clock in the back of the old convertible 🙂

Used to work in Farringdon; 100m away Smithfield Market has hosted several films, including Hugh Grant driving an Audi TT in About a Boy and Daniel Craig going to MI6’s new HQ after the Vauxhall building is bombed in Skyfall.

Small firm I worked for (sadly before I joined) where disturbed by a kerfuffel one day outside so looked out of the window to see John Cleese in his pants hanging upside down out of the window – filming for a fish called Wanda !

Nearby streets where I grew up used for numerous adverts, the most recent being the big lorry with a portacabin kitchen on the back for Burger King.

My work building was in Skyfall, it’s in London not Shanghai
