Favourite industrial vehicles

There was one of these parked up at my workplace today and my excitement nearly got the better of me as this is my favourite digger type vehicle. Don’t know why, just is, and it has to be the bobcat with wheels not cat tracks! If I had one I’d spend all day in it digging stuff and moving rubble around as if I were a kid with a Tonka toy again!

So, what’s everyone else’s favourite industrial vehicles…

It’s a close-run thing between a red tractor:

and a yellow combine harvester:

The UK’s most expensive Truck and trailer combo. All up cost 1.2 million (I did the graphics part)

househusband, I saw an ad for a Unimog set up for adventuring, it even came in it’s own 40ft container!

Here in Norfolk we get some weird and wonderful farm machinery, articulated tracked, ultra wide wheeled, ultra narrow wheels high ground clearance (you could drive a sports car under), and a whole host of other cool looking beasts.

i’l see you your unimog and raise you one of these

we hired one for 3 weeks, what a great machine, especially when paired with one of these

which was also fun to drive.
unimog is great though…

I also love piling rigs which I used to work with in a previous work life:

I’m geeky enough to have driven right across town to watch these things shift huge castings out of the steel works in the middle of the night.

I love ‘big’, for years those tonker toy dumper trucks had my full attention,

but of late…

a little less than glamorous in this distinguished and spectacular company.. but my Uncle always used to be driving one of these when he came to visit, and they were quite popular with the hippies of my youth..

one day I will have one of my very own..

This conjures up very similar fond childhood memories too..

Cranes. Even now at 43 if we have a big lift on site I get all giddy and excited.

Unsurprisingly I’m into big forestry kit, but still rather like these with direct mount winch, probably one of the original weapons of mass destruction.

I used to have an intimate knowledge of the parts and maintenance programs for lots of big bits of mobile plant.
