Facebook Hacked Help

Oops sorry for the all caps in title.

Have a request for help/advice from a resident on a Facebook/Instagram hack. Seems their FB was hacked but then linked to a 3rd party Instagram account that they don’t have access to.

I do lots on explaining and setting up 2FA for locals but unpicking this is a new area for me.

Any suggestions from the Skoda/Audi/BYD driving IT STW illuminati?

Predicament explained (edited) below:

“They hacked my account and linked it to their own instagram account which went against community guidelines and was therefore banned, which in turn banned my Facebook. When I try to log into my Facebook it tells me to log into the offending instagram (which isn’t my account so can’t log into it) in order to appeal the decision.”

Not uncommon by the sound of it. Good luck – seems like you get what you pay for when it comes to Meta customer service!

Why do people have to be such assholes? 😖

Don’t hold out too much hope – I had my account hacked and it was suspended as it was broadcasting Russian propaganda at the beginning of the war and, despite following their instructions and sending photo identity to Facebook several times, I got nowhere and they automatically closed it down after 90 days (IIRC). It was gutting as I had several years of memories on there, including pictures and posts of my girls from babies (I still have the original pictures, but sometimes the posts tell the story).
