I have a set of race face evolve xc cranks with the x-type bb. After only a few months the bb has had it! The bearings are in an appalling condition and now creaking ever so slightly. Looking at buying a new external bb, i have heard good things about the shimano and hope bb’s. Is the hope worth the extra over the shimano??
I can get a shimano for £30 but a hope is £60! How durable are each?

had shimano for 8 months so far – hope is still in the spares box

Both are fine, best get your BB faced to the exact width it should be before fitting Race-Face cranks, if it’s even fractionally oversize it’ll preload the bearings and destroy them in no time.
