I bought a Transit Connect last year and the paintwork is a bit on the scruffy side. I’d like to make it look a bit better but don’t wont to spend a fortune or hours doing so.

I own a pressure washer and some microfiber cloths, so will be buying everything else. There’s so many products and different treatments that I’m a bit lost 🙂

I was thinking a wash (2 buckets and a mitt), clay bar, wash again, bit of a polish and then some sort of wax/sealant? Does that sound about right? If so, recommendations for products?

Also, what sort of thing do I need for making the black trim look less dull/old?

Cover the bad paint with a sweet dragon wrap?

This guy has a fair number of videos explaining what he does in detailing. May help a little.

    Sounds about right.

Clay bar takes forever. I’d suggest bug and tar remover and fallout remover first, it’ll save time in the long run.

I use the Farcela G3 scratch remover and their Paint renovator / restorer polishes. They do a pretty good job.

Then Built+Hamber Speed Wax to finish.

For a van I’d get a cheap polisher (IIRC Aldi have their random orbit 18v one in stock at the moment). Otherwise you’ll be there all day. Don’t go crazy and buy an expensive powerful rotary one. Yes it would be quicker. But vans are all flat surfaces and and sharp edges. You’ll just end up with a hollogramed mess on the panels and burn tbrough the paint on the edges.

    Thanks both.

The more I think about it the more I’m not sure I can be bothered, think I’d rather be riding my bike. I might just give it a clean and a polish with something like Autoglym Super Resin Polish and leave it at that.

Definitely won’t be buying a polisher!
