Any suggestions about which guitar, amp, etc to get for a novice? Used kit would be best, budget up to £200??

probably won’t get much for that sort of money

Though I will recommend line 6 micro spider amp for £99 as pretty good for the money

depends what proportion of the budget you want to spend on an amp. There are plenty of Squier guitar & amp packages that come in under £200, & I got a Yamaha guitar & amp well under your budget a few years ago.

But if you want FX then that really blows the budget. don’t be tempted to get an amp with built-in FX, as they’re nearly always worse than an amp without FX plus a good selection of pedals – but of course, pedals cost more…

For a complete beginner? An amp which only goes up to 1.

Squire is still the obvious choice. But ring your local music shop and see what they’ll do (most aren’t as bad as their reputations). It’ll probably be 2nd hand though.
