Not favourite songs, not necessarily good ones. Just the song you can’t get out of your head and maybe have to play loud to appease the worm gods.

For the past week it’s been this. Don’t know where it came from.

I have a peculiar earworm in that its a tune I can’t even remember most of the time…. until I’m on a long slog of a road climb. Once I’m chugging along up a long steep hill the theme tune from Garden Force comes into my head. Right at this moment – reclining on a sofa, I’ve no idea what that tune is – if I try to think of it the tune that actually comes to mind is ‘The Gonk’ from the end of Dawn of the Dead.

For the past however long it’s been ‘We don’t talk about **** Bruno’. It feels like forever.

When I used to work for a local authority I constantly had the theme tune from Brazil in my head.

My daughter’s been singing that over and over for weeks…. 🙁

Don’t Speak is one of my favourites, love it.

There’s a particular ear worm that seems to have been designed to annoy the life out of me. It absolutely hate this song, and up until a couple of minutes ago I thought it was by a completely different band that I absolutely despise. Anyway, once this price of garbage gets in my heads, it’s in there all bloody day! aaarrrgggghhhhhh!!

    I heard this –

    – in the supermarket yesterday morning.

I cannot get it out of my head.

I also am afflicted by ‘We don’t talk about Bruno’

To be fair, it’s not a bad song as Disney songs go; though not as good as the Moana music… which is another earworm

I made the foolish mistake of listening to this; now it’s stuck firmly in my head.

I upset the group on our cycling tour the other week when someone said they had a dog called Lola and I asked if she was a showgirl….

For two days afterwards you’d randomly get someone breaking into Barry Manilow mode.

I’m terrified of hearing artists that I can’t stand (like Manilow) because guaranteed I’ll end up with an earworm for days on end. Often, though, it’s bits of classical music which isn’t tooo bad.  I was reminded above about my local in London. Monday nights a group of rugby colts used to come in post-training as did a group of mature men of a certain persuasion. The colts used to sing ‘If you like…etc etc’. Everyone used to laugh.

Encanto is on repeat in the Funk household so I can sympathise with the ‘We don’t talk about Bruno’ brigade. Oddly I’ve not got fed up of the film yet. (Whispers it) it is good.

The Bad Lip Reading songs. My Stick (is better than bacon), Seagulls (Stop it now) and It’s not the future take one listen before they’re stuck in my head for weeks.

Ever since someone posted a video here of this tune a year or so ago, taking me back to my days of yoof, I go through phases of Cachapaya going round and around in my head.

Currently got Fleetwood Mac singing Go Your Own way. I had that all day Sunday too, a brief respite from it with Idlewild’s Wooden Ideas yesterday.

Both are better than the theme tune from Sesame Street which I had for ages.

    .

Does it count as an earworm if I listen to Billy Connolly and then the voice in my heads takes on his accent? He is by far the worst for that.

If you haven’t got it already then I present the mother of all earworms, The Goombay Dance band and Seven Tears. Go on, have a listen on YouTube.

    Thank me later

Edit I just remembered a mark and lard/maconey slot where people sent in there worst musical experiences There was some guy who worked on the rigs and lived in Denmark, a danish chopper crew flew him out to a rig, it was a couple of hours and the crew played Seven Tears on a continuous loop through the headphones the whole trip

Baby shark doo doo doo doo doo da doo.

I tolerate it because I love seeing my little girl copying the daft dance moves in the video but I end up waking up with the tune still in my head. And the rest of the day.😀

A podcast I was listening to earlier in the week mentioned M.I.A. and that was that – I’ve had this stuck in my head ever since.

It’s not even her best tune. Excellent video, though.

Wow 2 years since this started? I’d have said 2 months.

In those 2 years, my daughter has found Parry Gripp and therefore so have we.

    For example.

Thanks to Radio 2 on Saturday, I now have ABBA’s ‘Thank you for the Music’ on repeat in my head.

I love the BBC, but I now want it shut down.
