Have just got hold of a friend's Nikon D70S and want to use it for more than just snapshots.

Does anyone know of any forums / sites that I can ask some truly stupid noobie questions on (when I think of any)?

Are there any on-line lessons or is it better joining a class or just getting out there and bashing about and learning through experience?

Thanks in advance for the help (and slagging) that ensues.

Well, you've started in the right place! STW is as good as anything I find!

Do you already know about settings such as shutter speed/apeture/ISO etc or do you need to start from scratch with learning the manual / semi manual settings?

there are loads of tutorials on youtube and various websites/blogs. Both for improving your photography and for learning how to use all the settings on the camera. Try here http://www.morguefile.com/docs/Classroom

www.talkphotography.co.uk is good for all kinds of advice from basics beginners stuff to really detailed criticism.

Get a flickr or photobucket account so you can post photos online and on forums so you can get advice and criticism that will help you improve.

Thanks PP & AndyPaice. Will look at those sites.

I'm very much a beginner. I need to start from the basics. Very eager to learn though. I have already set up the flickr account (for holiday snaps at the moment).

www.dpreview.com is pretty good, but as far as forums go, flickr.com community is really helpful to me in the past.
