After an excruciating Osteo appointment of compressing/stretching/exercising a little TFL muscle; I started to look at buying a foam roller, with an idea of post ride rolling in front of the telly.
Has anybody used one? Are they really as good as they make out?

Personally I’d buy a 4kg medicine ball, a baseball and a golf ball.

Far better than a foam roller.

yes the missus does, I do when I complain about being sore for too long then remember to shut up. I hear they were first invented as a torture object by the CIA.

Been using one for the last two weeks after blowing my IT Bands and TFL after a long ride. No doubt building up the problem wit years of mashing the pedals and saddle too high. Great help, but can be really sore to begin with.

I got mine form amazon but can probably get better deals from specialist physio retailers.

I use a hockey ball, which is flippin painful, but gets the job done.

We went for one of these because it was shorter, doesn’t compress and has wee nobbly bits on. Weirdly, it’s also really good for my back, and comes with a little sheet of exercises.

I have the Trigger Point one too, though it didn’t come with a sheet of exercises; merely a link to their website where they try to flog you the DVD of how to use it. Would have returned it on those grounds alone, but couldn’t find the receipt.
