Do you wear Clark's shoes?

tried a pair on yesterday. felt very comfy in the shop, but £89?? are they really worth the extra? (my last shoes purchased were £25 and comfy)

no never have ….. but the kids always had clarks shoes when they were growing up….clarks have always been expensive….but its what is comfy for you…

Yes, and they are very comfy, and they didn't cost half that, did my wedding and now my school shoes (teacher). The last, pretty much identical pair were similarly priced, lasted about 6 years of teaching (kicking football about at breaktime etc.) Still polished up well if required and were replaced 'cos the lining was starting to go and I was getting married.

Mine are goretex ones – pricy but very comfortable.

Not now that they're all made in Brazil or Thailand, and the last 2 pairs that I bought there fell apart anyway, its just a printed label now – Clark's doesn't mean anything.

i have 'wallabees' for work – classic look and the crepe sole is v comfy

i got some clarks desert boots they seem alright.

Not worn Clarks for years, and I'm on my feet a lot (nurse). I actually find them too soft, which can feel comfortable in the shop, but after 8 or 9 hours on a ward softness isn't always helpful.

I've used Timberland recently, and currently use some Rohan shoes, which are more walking shoe/trainer type shoes.

Apart from the fact they'd look odd, I'd probably get some HiTec Magnums, but I think that may be a step too far for the bosses!!

Desert boots go in and out of fashion, don't they?

I find Goretex isn't so great for everyday wear- my feet get hotter and sweatier than in unlined ones, and tend to rot the lining!

I have no tweed, or cord or even elbow patches! Primary so we are less "formal" I like to believe…

I like Ecco shoes better thanb Clarks.

Yup I wear some Clarks shoes and find them super comfortable! But then you'll say "you're a chick and it's different" 😉 but I always ensure I buy mine in the sale, £55 reduced to £22.50 can't go wrong then!

The joys of my mother in law working at Clarks for the last 30yrs 🙂

My kids wear clarks and me & my wife wear clarks. Had a few sets of goretex shoes and some rather nice goretex boots for walking.

The real beauty is that we know when the sales are coming and what shoes are going in the sales. The £90 goretex ones end up at about £40 in the sale and she gets 30% off that. She tells us before hand and takes the ones we want off the shelves ready for the sales. Makes them a bargain

I spend all day on my feet in a non uniform Police role, Clarks are comfy and polish up well. You can't beat a good pair of DM shoes but since they stopped doing brogues I rely on clarks etc to look smart without looking like a plain clothes cop. As a result I own eight pairs of brougues in various makes, styles and colours.
Leather soles just wear through and soak up water, crepe soles don't grip in the damp and I could go on for a long time on this subject as my wife will testify so I will shut up now.

I've been wearing Clarks shoes for years in the office (about 10 years for two pairs of shoes). I like the fact that they are simple, plain black leather shoes that, whilst never particularly stylish, never really look out of place.

Cheap shoes = False economy.*

*Obviously if you can get them in the sale then this may not be true.

It was new for Christmas and hadn't been washed despite being worn most weekends before the experiment, envelope pushed 🙂

I bought some decent Clarks shoes when I started work in '96 – I think they were £80 odd quid reduced to around £50 in a sale. They looked good and were comfortable enough for smart shoes. They're still my only smart shoe though I don't wear them so often; got married in them and replaced the sole for that but uppers still look fine. Great purchase.

currently not a fan – like my merrell hi leather converse style shoes and my five ten trail shoes – both seem to wear well

now, when I were a nipper, startrite was where it was at (well it was either startrite, or normal shoes plus a horrid NHS plastic insert to support them as my feet were a little bit spazzy) – mind you they were good for kicking the crapola out of a few of the older lads who thought they were hard at school.

My dad remembers going into Clark shoe shops when they had real time x-raying of your foot.
You just stuck your shoe covered foot in the bottom, it focused a beam of cancer on your sole and you could peer down and see your bones wiggling inside the shoe.

By the time I got my first school shoes, the x-ray of death machines had gone, but they had another contraption which closed in all around your foot to get the exact measurement. That was the only good thing about trips for new school shoes.

How disappointing is it for a seven year old to be handed a box which says "COMMANDO" on it, only to open it and find the most boring black shoes in the world.

when looking for new shoes I invariably swing around to tkmax as more often than not you can find better quality than clarks for about £20 a pair. (once picked up a pair of Paul Smith brogues for £30.00, I've had them resoled twice!)

I agree with the price. I even live near to the town that used to make them and they have a factory outlet store which can make them a bit more affordable.
However I have yet to find a decent pair in the factory shop, they seem to dig out all the crazy designs or very old man ones – none of the more modern designs.

We're a family of 'clarks shoe' lovers. Sad to hear that they're mostly made abroad. Sign of the times I suppose.

Always buy in the sales.

A few years ago I got some knee high fashion boots, they were so grippy that when we had all the snow, it was the only footwear for me. When others where sliding around I was mostly upright.
