Just seen another 50+ gentleman riding with a deliveroo bag on in my semi-rural area. It’s a nice afternoon for a ride. What’s the story with all these grey haired deliveroo riders?

Do they know something we don’t? Supplementing zone 2 training on a sunny afternoon with a little extra income?

or is the job so miserable it’s more likely desperation?

Semi-retired and wants to earn some no-stress cash?

When we’re (hopefully) financially secure and I pack in the day-job, I’m thinking of drifting from temp job to temp job. Just see where it takes me. May be some shite ones, may be some fun ones.

Are you after someone on the inside?

Looking for some of the action?

I feel like this is a song lyric quote I’m not quite getting. If that’s just a straightforward question, then the answer is I’m just thinking out loud really.  Friday afternoon musings

im gonna be 40 this year. Once I get this sodding mortgage paid off, quitting and earning a marginal income by riding my bike sounds quite appealing. I’m also wondering if deliveroo could be a brilliant way to fill my evenings and get some miles on the bike. I currently ride mostly once I’ve got the little kids in bed. It’s one thing getting Strava miles logged, but how about earning some money along the way and being forced onto some unexpected routes?

my dad quit a career in accountancy (ok, he was forced to quit but let’s not go into that now) and took up a job delivering cars around the country and he absolutely loved it.

I guess I’m dreaming of some brilliant Strava/deliveroo love child where the self-training but ultimately economically unproductive output of Strava could be melded with the productive output of deliveroo.

That’s my eldest. Snapped up Strava segments and great training (hybrid, Deliveroo bag full of 5kg of booze, Edinburgh is uphill to the good customers), earned about £80-100 a night shift as a student.

    It’s won’t be stress free

Every job will have its own stresses, just different levels of giving a fuk

When I saw the thread title I wondered if a new amd amusing piece of urbal slang had been invented.

50+ gentleman would be a nice change from the ones they have round here. Dressed as if for a bank robbery, bike in poor condition with no lights, or illegal electric motorbike, reckless riding on pavements among pedestrians. And all the subcontracting dirty business.

you, sir, have been drinking more (or about the same) as me. Let’s agree that this new urbal slang for “do a deliveroo” means packing in your job to go for a bike ride rather than what it sounds like… which is probably toilet themed.

Well OK. But those things are not mutually incompatible. Sadly I haven’t been drinking.
