    Hi

My daughter has asked for this for her birthday. Not looking to spend loads. I’d appreciate any suggestions.

    thanks in advance

    Pink with glittery bits.

Telling the time is a secondary requirement.

Garmin Vivofit Junior 3. Lets you set reminders and has useful things like a tooth brushing timer.

    Worst. Swap. Ever.

You can’t rely on an 8 year old to keep good time.

Get a clear basic analogue. The next breath will be can I have a phone anyhow.

She’s probably getting close to the getting a phone age, so just avoid wasting money on a watch that’ll end up in a drawer, my 8 year old has about 3 of them, digital, analogue, just sat in the drawer and tells the time via our phones, the ipad or the wall clocks.

Should be years of usage before phone age. Our eldest still uses hers (older version of the Garmin linked above) despite having had a phone since going to secondary. Youngest (8) sets timers for all sorts and uses it for time more than any other clock/display we have.

It’s quite likely to get lost so I’d go for a basic Casio for about £15 or if you do AliExpress a simple Skmei for under £5. Whichever way you go check that the strap can go small enough for an 8 year old wrist.

Agreed. I think something that is pink and tells the time is a win!

Casio Baby-G would be my choice if my 8 year old daughter asked for a watch (and wanted digital).

Or this is she wasn’t too sporty: (or if you didn’t want to splash £70].

Ours (when 8 IIRC) wanted a smart watch to count steps etc. We’re a Garmin household, so she got the kids Garmin. It’s been fine & she has a selection of straps which she likes.

Some of her pals have tracker watches that take SIM cards (generally the ones who get a school bus). They seem lucky to get a day out of the battery.

The kids Fitbit is also popular I think, we are not Fitbit fans though.

If she just wants a watch, get a small, cheap Casio or similar, it’s less of an issue if it gets lost.
