For some reason I have started getting low memory on my desktop. 12GB installed and when just browsing internet and using word I get low memory and have to close some stuff.

Is my memory knackered or is there a way round this?

What OS? (You’re not running a 32-bit installation are you?)

What’s Task Manager show?

Running windows 10. I believe I’m running 64 but I ought to check.

Just internet with a youtube video and excel and word open it’s showing 43% usage on the memory.

Look at the Processes tab and order by Memory.

Chrome is using the most with spikes going up to 800mb.

An 800Mb app shouldn’t be consuming 12Gb.

You haven’t done something wacky like turning off the page file, have you?

Can you post a screenshot of the warning?

Malware scan?

Ah I had pagefile off for some reason.

I got it back on and see how it runs.

Lots of people recommend turning off the page file if you have plenty of RAM.

Lots of people don’t understand Windows memory management.
