    > TJ has already explicitly said he doesn’t own ANY branded products.

No I have not as you have repeatedly been told.

Right well this will be another one of those clarifications then TJ.
You previously said and I quote:

    i don’t own branded goods.

So can you clarify what that actually means please?

you are quoting him out of context 😉
You did say it TJ but I think you probably meant it more as I dont buy goods for the brand. Nonetheless you did say it.

“any”. thats the difference. That and other posts that clarified this ages ago. Immediately I posted that I was pulled up on it and clarified it and have done many times since.

So can you clarify what that actually means please?

Is this the bit where we have to say that all goods have a name therefore have a brand (from Aldi to Rapha), and people are getting their knickers in a twist over marketing and sales rather than brands and logos?
    Or is it just me?

    I like this.

And I really like negative space used well in logos

It was weird in that a friend of mine only just realised the Carrefour logo was a “C” whereas I’ve always seen it.

    “any”. thats the difference.

    Silly me 🙄

Fair enough. By the same logic I don’t own shoes or socks.

Any other unusual uses of English you’d like to submit, possibly to explain the last lot of quotes where it sounds a lot like you claim you are completely immune to all branding, which you then later deny?

I reckon the band ‘Kiss’ must be one of the most successful brands globally.

Simple logo, easy to scrawl on walls and excercise books worldwide.

Hate their music but Gene Simmons is one hell of a businessman.

The red triangle was used on the beer pumps in the days when most folk were illiterate so they knew which one to ask for. easily recognisable, nothing more than that. the epitome of a good logo

Bass logo. excellent choice, such a good design that even the illiterate can recognise it.

hang on, isnt it only the ‘arty farty’ intelligentsia who are into all this winky stuff…. that it would mean anything to?

    😉

Hasn’t anyone got any examples of logos in foreign language, that you know immediately to be the brand?

    molgrips

I was doing two things here espousing a veiwpoint and set of values that I hold and many of you have clearly never seen and poking the pretentious with s pointed stick

    That is bolx.

Of course we’ve seen these values. What do you think we are, children? Many of us are very worldly wise.

Want I wont accept is that it has meaning beyond this that the whole world understands

Of course not – that’s not what we are saying!

Logos and commercial design are obviously not pre-arranged coded messages.

It is a way of drawing upon associations in people’s minds to ATTEMPT to promote certain emotions. They may or may not achieve this.

Molgrips – judging by the fact that so many folk deny its possible then I thought they had never seen it.

as for the extended meaning – thats precisely what was claimed that brought me into this.

den – thats the “hidden meanings” in the font shapes and colours – not the simple meaning – red triangle = bass beer. people were claiming all sorts of hidden meanings in the colours, the shapes and the fonts used

I thought it was subconscious associations rather than hidden meanings…..

“Is it just me who sees all these logos as really winky?

all it needs to do is tell you what the company is.”

But just *how* you do it can give a very different impression of the brand…

    mastiles_fanylion – Member

Or of course we could look at stacking/weight combinations – the simple bold one suggests maybe you are in construction or engineering or something, the fine cut males you look like a hairdresser

Talking aboiut tandemjeremy in 5 different fonts

    stumpy01 – Member

    From M-F’s original TandemJeremy selection:

1 – TJ owns a yacht and ponces around the marina a lot with a jumper hung over his shoulders

2 – TJ is a computer repair man

3 – TJ is a builder or sells rugged clothing to the construction industry

4 – TJ has a photograpy website & does ‘bespoke artwork’

    5 – TJ is a kid’s entertainer or author of children’s books.

Quite amazing actually what those different fonts convey!
