Last minute panicked that we’ve not considered this! Got a hire car as part of the holiday package, I see Spanish law says child seat required up to age 12.

Do people normally take their own booster seat on holiday with them or do hire companies have a few knocking about behind the desk!?

Can you tell I’ve never hired a car abroad before!?

I honestly don’t know but I’d think/expect the hire company should be able to sort that out?

The car hire company will have them, but will probably charge you more than for the car itself!

Many airlines allow you to bring one for free on the flight, up to 11 years old.

We took ours with us as the cost of hire was ridiculous a few years ago.

You’d be crazy to hire one. Take one with you. Not just the cost, but the stress..

Quick note for anyone with younger kids, full size kids seats ( ie not just the base) fit beautifully in the XL North FacexDuffels.

They were always peanuts to add to car hire when we needed them

In fact I’m sure some just gave us one

How many decades ago was that?

I’m still mortified at seeing what they were handing out as hire seats in Majorca last time I was there.

We take ours every time now. Would not risk that nonsense you just don’t know what your getting.

How old is the child and how tall? We bought a Trunki BoostAPak for travelling with our son. Combines rucksack and booster and is perfect for buses and taxis. Wouldn’t want to do long journeys or if the child is likely to sleep, but our boy was happy in it for a two hour transfer.

We’ve used these now that our kids are quite big (now 10 & 12) – they’re teeny tiny but legal:
