Quick one: I’m changing up my home LAN to something a bit more robust – basically from the ISP-provided modem/ router to separate modem/ switch/ wireless router. (If nothing else, the modem is crappy, so being able to isolate the network from its hissy fits is useful)

    Coupla questions on it:
    – I’m assuming it’s a 3-box solution, in that order: modem goes into switch; switch runs both to hardwired network cabling and wireless router?
    – Can you suggest a cheap but good enough switch? It’s only really going to have to cope with half a dozen devices, over a mixture of wired/ wireless, possibly streaming video.

    Cheers

I have one of these and the 6500 Wireless router and have to say it’s been perfect!

I stream full HD stuff from my NAS upstairs to my Pi in the front room with no worries.

Doh, the answer to this is ‘no, definitely not’. It’s modem-router-switch.
    Dur.
