Bought a second saw which needs a new sprocket, looking around online it seems I can fit either a six or seven tooth sprocket on my saw. How do I know what size to go for??
    Thanks

depends what saw it is and how much power it as..if it’s powerful enough I’d go with the 7tooth. or do a search to see what it comes with as standard

It’s a Stihl 009 I think it’s about 35-36cc. Does the different number of teeth affect what chains can be used?

You probably need to consider bar length too. I’d run a 6 tooth with a smaller bar as it needs less torque but benefits from the extra speed. Longer bar, larger sprocket, will be slower bit with comparable torque.

Go with 6 tooth and no more than 14″ bar cracking little saws those

According to the parts diagram, both 6 & 7 teeth use 3/8 chain. You can go for an 8 tooth one which uses a 1/4 chain

And this guy is good for chains and spares – http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Mister-Solutions

Thanks everyone. I’ll try a six tooth.
