Campervan mini tour in UK

Got other trips planned but a week has just become available (14th – 19th July inc) for a getaway in the van (T6) We did a variation on the NC500 last year (including Skye, all on booked sites…..) which we loved, plus lots of weekends and long weekends (wish we had bought it years ago). Hope to do a Northern France jaunt next year (travelled lots there in previous years) and planning longer trips abroad when Mrs Surfer retires. Anyway I want to stay away from the Lakes (its my favourite place and drag Mrs Surfer there all the time so give it a miss for this trip) so was thinking of Wales, Cotswolds or Yorkshire. Want quiet but lots of countryside, beach would be bonus and don’t want to travel too far (live on the Wirral). No biking just running and walking (1 dog) I am favouring Yorkshire btw…

We did a Northumberland trip in 22. It was absolutely epic and cant wait to go again. Sometimes its only when you get home and get some perspective do you realise just how much you enjoy places. Definitely going again soon but maybe somewhere a bit closer for this trip. Hear what you say about the Costswolds. I am not a people person really… so noted 🙂

If you want hills, beaches and quiet then between Fishguard and Aberaeron is a really good option

Wales is pretty much on your doorstep. I’m a neighbour just on the Welsh side of Chester.  Last year in the T6 I did Anglesey, Betwsy Coed, Lynn Peninsula, Aberystwyth and just outside Pembroke.

I loved it, it felt quite desolate when I did it. (October time) My trip was a very relaxed 7 days. Lynn Peninsula at dark on a clear night with a small fire was epic (solo stove).

That sounds interesting. I know the Lynn Peninsula quite well and Betwsy Coed. Did you stay on sites? We do have a few days pencilled on the Peninsula with our 4yr old grandson in August.

Unless you travel very light and like driving, I would suggest maybe plan to go to less places and spend more quality time in the places that you visit

But you can go a few times..

We are touring – a few days of Belfast, Slieve Donard and Dublin with one of our sons. Then we have 10 days down to Cork and the far south west. We plan a second trip from Galway north at some point.

As a resident of North Yorkshire it’s only right I promote my home county!

Lots to see and do in the Dales and the Moors plus has a lovely coastline.

If 10 days then maybe just pick one of the above 🙂

How about the underrated Scottish Borders? You could even hop over to Arran for a couple of days as well?

Or it would have to be North Wales for me, Harlech, Dolgellau, the rhinogs for quiet walks, maybe over to beach on Anglesey.

West wales as above. Like Cornwall but less money, less people. Not much going on apart from the scenery though.

Cotswolds? depends where you are talking but I wouldn’t bother. Relatively few camping options. Fine for a weekend but not longer (IMO). Mind you, lots of quality pub/restaurants.

Isle of white is fun, you can pretend it is ‘abroad’. Dorset eg Swanage or New Forest. Too far?

I’m tempted to do do a “don’t tell anyone” or “it’s rubbish” ala tired Northumberland trope repeated by absolutely everyone. But the North York Moors, coast and inland are fantastic, also quiet and a bit under the tourist radar, though there are a few threads on here. Plenty to do and nooks and corners to explore. Just subtly different to the dales and Pennines that I know much better. And you’ve got the coast: cliffs, coves, beaches, reefs…. (not that there’s much surf in summer. Though there is today.)

But I’d say the st Davids peninsula if you’ve not been or maybe combine with the South Pembrokeshire Coast
