As per the thread title – what are the symptoms of caffeine withdrawal?

I’ve always been a coffee fiend, and the stronger the better (I usually drink proper grounds, not instant, and I prefer it black with sugar). (Edit – I do ride an Orange but I don’t drive an Audi)

I’ve decided though that I ought to cut down, so I’ve started cutting out my mid-morning “fix” and just drinking plain water instead.

After a few days though, I’m finding that I’m getting irritable (even more than usual), shaky, cold sweats and nausea. Is this what I should expect? Or is a trip to barber-surgeon on the cards for a course of leeches?

Ha! I know the feeling – unfortunately I work with the two dullest people in North Yorkshire so it does help in that department!!

The VP of EMEA must have a very soothing voice as whenever she’s presenting I feel the need to doze…

Strange thing is that she’s a good presenter and usually interesting. I think she must also be an awesome mother. 😕

I used to get the shakes and have cracking headaches when I tried to cut out caffeine. I used to stop drinking coffee for Lent and it was horrible every time – these days I just regulate my intake and don’t stop altogether…

When I did go cold turkey it took 2 weeks for the symptoms to stop.

Cold turkey makes me feel sick and gives me headaches so when cutting back on coffee I tend to drink lots of water and only tea afetr 12 o’clock.

I used to drink loads of coffee, but gave it up (all caffeine) about a year ago.
The headaches only lasted a couple of weeks, and the cravings a few months.
After that you can look forward to better sleep, feeling alert in the mornings(!), less irritability, better concentration, lower blood pressure and more energy throughout the day.

    +1 for Bullheart.

I ditched all caffeine cold turkey last May. Felt a bit tetchy and had mild headaches for only 2 or 3 days.

Since then have felt more energetic, alert and slept better than I can remember in my adult life.

    Do it.

I find a nice bag of heroin helps with my caffeine withdrawal.

.. and I find that a nice cup of Darjeeling helps with the resultant heroin withdrawal 😉

I took up smoking to get me off my darjeeling addiction.

Headaches for me….i just give in and drink coffee again.

I have found ephedrine works well as a morning pick-me-up though.
