    I’ve a 2012 Voodoo Bizango and I need a new front wheel.  The bike is a bit like “triggers broom” so its now a 1x with carbon exotic forks,  I use it as much as a bike to practice/learn on and I’ve done any changes myself (bottom bracket, headset etc)

    My riding is mostly gravel style with some  “mild” surrey hills type stuff.

    One thing that hasn’t changed from the original spec are the wheels, but I need a new front – 29 100mm x 15mm.  I have to say I don’t know a great deal about bikes, but I know even less about bike wheels.  Looking around there are some on Facebook market place and eBay but after googling for recommendations I stumbled across this which I’d read is good.

    Taking into account the value of the bike, are there better options – second hand for example?  Is it better to change the front and rear at the same time.

    I saw this but as I’m in south west london its a little far away but should I be looking for something along those lines….or just pull the trigger on the Bontranger.

    Sorry bit of a ramble but any help/advice would be great.

    The days of Ebay being full of really nice non-Boost wheels going for chicken feed are over and as very few quality brands still make non-boost 2nd hand prices have crept up again.

    So, I’d either go for that Bonty or a DT Swiss X 1900, the DT will be lighter with better long term spares availability but is a bit more expensive.

    Thanks but that’s a little more than I was looking to spend for this bike.

    Pinkbike looks like it will have some options.

    @dynamiccoins I’ll check my loft, but I think I have the original front wheel from my 2020 Bizango. You can have it for the cost of postage and maybe a quid in a cycling charity’s coffers. I’ll have to check how much postage will be via my wife’s work but roughly £10.

    No idea if DM works on here now/yet, but I’ll check today and either post again here or DM you.

    That Bontrager wheel would probably do the job fine and even though I like building wheels I think I’d struggle to build one myself for cheaper then that.

    Equally that secondhand dt swiss would be ok.

    I’d imagine both are better than what a Bizango would have come with as standard.

    Thanks for the replies. I still can’t get my head round how I quote on the phone, so…..

    @greatbeardedone
    – that eBay auction is for a 9mm qr and I need 15mm

    @fazzini
    – great let me know. Fingers crossed it’s not boost.

    @joebristol
    – thanks. It did cross my mind about having a crack at building, but maybe one for the future.

    Whatever came as standard. 15×100 I think. It’s a thru-axle one though if that helps?

    @fazzini

    Apparently I’ve sent too many messages. No idea when that will be lifted but I’ll reply to you once it has!

    I’m in Cheshire, fairly sure I’ve got what you’re after in the shed though. If you can get it somehow, you can have it free of charge.

    It’s a 9mm qr.

    iirc, the rim is 21mm wide.

    sealed bearings.
