Anyone got any experience of riding any of the non bw tracks down into Bolton abbey? Thinking specifically one over from west end/thruscross which looks tasty on Google maps but have a feeling the estate takes a dim view of this….

    You mean via rocking hall?

Years since me and fatboyslow off of here did that one, there were signs at Bolton park saying no bikes, but we ignored and its a really nice one.

Yeah that’s the one I mean may need to chance it 🙂

might also consider sneaking on by Storiths and then enjoying riding along the ridge/moor for a lot further rather than just ‘up and over’

Route out from Thruscross via Timble Ings, March Gyll resr, over Round Hill would all be legal too.

All private, but as said they are good- the moor top descent has some really well placed kickers too!

I reckon the gamekeepers meet bikes and walkers most days- they just ask you to leave- never had a gun pointed!

Well, the top of the moor is all open access for walkers anyway – speak with a scottish accent and plead ignorance 😀

Got a Scottish accent anyway so that should not be too tricky.,,,

I headed up to Simons Seat a few years back, got asked to leave by an estate worker in a Landy. 😐
