Hit a crow whilst I was out on the road bike yesterday. Flew out in front of my, whilst I was traveling a fair speed. Hit the head tube and then got sucked under the front wheel. Thankfully I recovered the wobble and stayed on the bike. The bird didn’t fair so well.

Im glad it didn’t hit me, although it would probably be still flying around if it had. Anyone else had any scary incidents with birds?

Yup a few times, the worst was a pigeon, hit me, bounced down my belly into the rear wheel then got mashed up.
    It made a right mess.

Ugh glad that didn’t happen. You stay on the bike?

‘Daveagiles’ is an anagram of ‘Avid eagles’ – coincidence?

I hit a pigeon on the motorboik at speed once. Hit me square in the chest and knocked the wind out of me. I had a big bruise after but so did the pigeon 🙁

    Not a bird!

I was cycling down a lane on Exmoor at dusk when a large Bat hit me on the head!

He flew off – we we’re both a bit dazed afterwards 🙂

Came round a corner in FoD this morning and there was a squirrel on the trail that panicked and ran off to one side then turned around and ran back across about an inch from my front wheel 😯

Was riding close behind my bro when a small bird, a blue or great tit, flew low through his front wheel close to the ground. From the bird’s viewpoint, maybe tha spokes weren’t moving much. Bro and the bird were unaffected.

Friend reckons a badger ran between his front and wheel once. Can’t believe a badger could run that quick though?!?

I had a squirrel dash in front of me a few years back and it managed to get caught in the spokes and do a complet revolution before carrying on its way – leaving me standing there speechless for 30 seconds wondering WTF had happened (i wasn’t going particulalrly fast – as ever)

Hit a pheasant with my clockwork orange once…just outside Feshiebridge.

The bike was on the roofrack of the car and I was doing north of 50. There was a lot of gore to clean out of the front wheel and chainset area before commuting on it the next morning.

Not on the pushbike, hit one on the motorbike though. Blood and guts everywhere, it was like a scene from a bad horror movie

    Imagine what the squirrel thought!

    Nice.

Had a badger run between my wheels before – no idea how it got through as I wasn’t pootling. I swear a squirrel had run tough the spokes of my wheel whilst I was riding along (logic says it didn’t).
The other week right at the end of my ride a cat ran out in front of me, just missed it, it made me wonder if the owners would be responsible if I ended up in hospital after hitting Tiddles?

Your friend doesn’t know me does he. Although the badger didn’t run between my wheels. Riding at night and the badger ran out in front of me and across the front wheel. Grabbed the brakes hard and tagged his back end. Managed to stay on the bike and he ran off.

And yes they run **** quick.

    Could be wrong,
But cat owners are not responsible for their cats actions unlike a dogs owner.
As cats are a different kettle of fish.

If you run over my dog and damaged your car I would be responsible but if the same happened with my neighbours cat it would be you forking out .

Chip – That is my limited understanding of it too. Another reason not to like cats.

I’ve been lucky so far on the Bikes but I once hit a Pheasant in the Car whilst doing 130mph on a ” private ” section of the M55.

That was when I was young and stupid.

Had a Girl out on Test and, whilst just Driving along, a Bird left its droppings right in the Centre of the Windscreen. It went with a right thud and the Girl just kept going as she didn’t want to use the washers as it would have smeared everywhere.

The Examiner just kept saying ” muck for luck ” yeah she passed.

Badger strikes are quite common round our way. I’ve had one thump into my ankle and run between the wheels. A couple of mates have been de-biked by them. In all cases the badger has run off seemingly no worse for wear, flicking the Vs as it goes. Tough little buggers.
