Framebags have made a comeback along with seat packs, that’s about it. 20 years ago we used rucksacks, 20 years before that it was panniers.

I think it’s save to assume though that Maurice up there hasn’t got a tent in that frame bag. Probably just his baccy pouch, a flask of laudanum and enough whizz to get him to the auberge in the next alpine village. Oh and probably a jacket for dinner.

No; someone invented the freewheel – so now you don’t have to take your feet off the pedals when coasting downhill at speed 8)

It really is a good example of clever marketing, taking something that already exists, re-branding it, and selling it on as a new phenomenon. Same as gravel bikes really….

I have a L’eroica jersey with pockets on the front – once you’ve ridden a merino jersey in the rain with front pockets laden and stuff bouncing off your knees, you realise why it didn’t catch-on. Besides, top riders had domestiques to carry all their stuff for them – so they got rid of their front pockets to show their status.
On the subject of front fork pegs, at the Retroronde there was a guy with a 1890s fixed-gear bike with solid tyres, wooden-rims, rod-brakes and fork-pegs – he’d get to the top of a hill and just let-go….terrifying

Tubs not tube, its the whole tyre with tube sewn in then you have to stick it to the rim.

The bloke in the OP pic, is he wearing Raphas new L/S jersey??
