I’ve just found out about a newish bike shop in Darlington called Bike Stop which is linked to a local homeless charity called First Stop.

They’ve opened a shop where they will sell/recycle bikes and parts donated to them. The shop also offers training to homeless people who want to learn skills in bicycle maintenance to help them find work.

It’s at 31 Skinnergate, Darlington – next to Yates wine bar. Tel 01325 788857

They’re keen on any old bikes or parts that people have lying around in the depths of their garages. I’ve arranged to drop off a couple of kids bikes and some parts and they sounded genuinely made up on the phone.
