- BIKE INSURANCE!!
I know that this is a recurring question on the forum but I have just discovered that M&S have now changed the goal posts for cover on bikes for existing customers at the point of policy renewal (having been assured in January that changes were only affecting new customers)
Can any one out there recommend any decent alternatives that are not too steep in their premiums? (no sniggering, I’m sure one must exist)…. 🙁Posted 4 years agomikewsmithSubscriber
from most of these threads you will need to declare the bike with anyone to get decent cover, call M&S back and see what they say. Be very aware of New for Old clauses not being in other insurers and that you get specifics of how you need to keep your bikes etc.Posted 4 years agoStinkerbellMember
Thanx guys, I was just soo pee’d off when they sneaked it into our cover. They don’t understand the concept of custom building or how hard it can be valuing components or frames that aren’t produced anymore… Hope our insurance doesn’t escalate too much!!! Will find out this morning I guess :-/Posted 4 years agoFuzzyWuzzyMember
Recently renewed my M&S contents insurance, fortunately only two bikes I had are over £2k value. Premium went from about £400 to £700, they wouldn’t budge even after I got some comparison quotes – in the end I upped the excess to £200 which dropped the quote back down to £450ish.Posted 4 years ago
Bit of a rip-off but I’m willing to pay a bit extra for the peace of mind and it’s still far cheaper than specialist bike insurance
