Just a heads up, apologies if been done before, but there’s a few sellers of fake Shimano chains on eBay currently. I bough HG901 XTR/Dura Ace chain and came in a copy box, with the wrong plastic bag. The chain had solid pins instead of hollow and was the wrong colour silver. Total junk.

I’m currently trying to get my money back but beware if you’re looking. I should have checked more but the price is a give away as only £18 odd instead of £30 odd.

Just noticed the same thing with KMC missing links – silly price and markings in the pictures not the same as my existing items.

Beware fake ANYTHING branded on eBay if too cheap & not from a verifiable legit seller 😂

I think HG chains are that sort of price from Decathlon anyway? Their own brand stuff is KMC, btw.

bought an XT chain off ebay a while ago, looked OK. didn’t realy look at it hard though. had the joining pin, seemed OK and quite cheap. st figured it was old stock.

lasted about 2 months before it was a rusty worn out mess and snapped several times. (I normally get a year out of a chain)

I was surprised that they were faking chains at the time. it I’d looked harder I’d have seen the signs on the text on the box and weird numbering on the chain.

There’s quite a few when you start looking…

He’s shifted hundreds of them so making a killing on selling fake shite. I’ve reported it to eBay but the listings are still there.

I doubt the seller handles them at all, making a wedge from drop shipping.

They couldn’t care less about fakes. Report it as a gun.

The other problem is some of the fake stuff isn’t that cheap. Looking for Apple headphones and the fake ones were only a few quid cheaper than real, makes it less obvious.

eBay is full of fake knock gear now. I was looking at fake Thomson seatposts the other day for my pub bike. Didn’t buy as they looked dodgy. There is bugger all point in reporting it, it’ll just get replaced with another as.
