Awesome person bought me a PS2 last xmas just because I missed playing Downhill Domination – and have been hammering said game since. Never get tired of it, but then somehow I remembered:

    (Namco)RIDGE RACER Type 4!!!!

Sweesus- that technofunkyjazzy soundtrack pumping smooth tunes as you tease and long-drift that Skyline clone into the sunset out of the last bend to victory?

Was there anything better? I doubt it. Just ordered a copy anyhoo, feel 31 again, chmon postieeeee 8)

Depends if you want sim or arcade really.

I’d go Gran Turismo every time.

Noooo Gran Turismo 3 not 2! Ps2 graphics and better tracks. Sure less cars but they are much nicer rendered

Later GT not so good until last edition came out.

    GT2 was a PS1 game. Shame it didn’t speed up in a PS2.

    The best?

Depends if you want a simulator or an arcade racer.

RR Type 4 was way too easy and pretty shit.

These are the racing games you should try:
    GT3 or 4
    Burnout
    NFS
    Micro Machines v4
    Twisted Metal
    Wipeout
    MotoGP

tbh I’ve spentmany more hrs on GT (on a PS2) than RR4 if only because self and Rider junior became obsessed with making progress in the car-collectathon. The racing was yawnsome.

RR4 on PS3?? why didnt they tell me!

I was big fan of the TOCA touring car stuff, the racing was pretty good at least.

Reconnected synapses inform that NFS Most Wanted was probably more ballsout fun than RR4 with its boosts, jumps and hell-for-leatherness of it all. RR4 is more zen. I need both really. Quick-fix arcade racing is where it’s at in a busy life, realised I was through with the sim stuff after countless red-eyed weekends and late-nights on Superbike 2000 and various incarnations of GT.

The new Wip[out should be ace.

    You want Tourist Trophy

    Gran Turismo with motorbikes

Tourst Trophy is amazing – plays in HD on a PS3 too.

Or if you fancy a challenge, TT Superbikes is a labour of love – will take over your life though.

Isle of man TT apart from fuelling up for long races??!! or Gran turismo, never enjoyed the NFS games.

This, really very good, would say that nothing has come close since, ‘cept for maybe Ride, but thats PS4.

Downhill Domination (as per OP is still the best) or Sledstorm
