Does anyone have any recommendations for a 50km or so route in the White Peak?

Normally head further North to the Dark peak but seeing as it's been so dry I thought White Peak might be a nice change.

Routes with Cafe stops, nice but not essential!

Cheers in advance!

Round bakewell, eyam, monsall head you should be able to link stuff together, there is the vertebrate book for the area. Further south round ambergate, wirksworth, black rocks is very good but lots is a bit cheeky and you need to know where, it's fine in the wet to.

From Linacre you can ride some great stuff and link north / west towards Stanage or Baslow or south towards Chatsworth. There are endless legitimate options for big rides in the White Peak rather than just that handfull of honeypot tracks in the Dark 😉

Beware the Vertebrae route for Cheedale and Wye Vale.

Did it the other week, very disappointing.

try this route Eyam to Bakewell which is similar to those mentioned, we did it the other week...good ride. I would take the option to extend up into chatsworth as suggested.

Very dry (I rode Holymoorside side last Sunday and it's not rained again) but a little overgrown on some trails.

Beware the Vertebrae route for Cheedale and Wye Vale.

I disagree, but each to their own. It's almost wholly off-tarmac apart from one climb, and features the Wormhill zig-zag descent followed by an excellent just-doable climb and then a great final descent. Certainly not an all-day route, though, but can be linked towards Hollinsclough from Chelmorton or towards Bakewell / Chatsworth via a short section of the Monsall trail.

I rode the Linacre Classic about 2 months ago and although the conditions were superb I didn't really enjoy the ride that much. We did it anti clockwise and it seemed that the climbing was on the better singletrack sections and descents on the road and wide track.

Yeah horses for courses but for me the first half seemed the wrong way round, technical climbs followed by tarmac or dull descents.

Final descent was covered in animal poo and overgrown, but had flashes of brilliance.

And a ridiculous number of gates throughout!

Descent to the river (before Wormhill?) was nice though.

Popped over to Hollinsclough after and rode a couple of the bridleway descents there, now there's some good riding!

I've heard very good things about the Five Dales circuit in the vertebrate publishing white peak book.

Not sure if it fits the bill distance-wise, but I'd have a look.

good good, once your on the monsai trail the option to extend further is fairly easy to work out on an os map. cafe stops abound on this route. we covered the 17.7 miles in about 2.5 hrs (moving time) with a few wrong turns. hence would definitely extend the ride out a bit

as listed on this website gives distance etc but you have to buy the book for the map http://www.bikemaps.co.uk/peak-district-mtb/white-peak-district-mountain-biking.htm

Five dales circuit is one of my favourite rides, has a bit of everything. Best now while it's a bit drier cos even now a couple of bits stay wet.

Follow your nose in the area and the extra 10k is easily made up. There's some obvious detours on route (like when it spits you out onto the road after copy wood above the hairpin, go straight over into Rowsley wood and follow the path staying high)

Also some redo sections, the first rocky climb up back lane makes a fun descent which you can get back up to through halldale wood at the end of the route, gaining an easy 5k.

Yes that's a great route, anti-clockwise I presume. Not an all-dayer, obviously, but potentially can be extended in any direction - perhaps around Pilsley / Calver and Bakewell Golf Course?

Clockwise is OK. The drop down to darley dale is OK.Youlgrave is lovely by the river. Some good suggestions on pubs here. You can extend out to calver way or across towards holymoorside or linacre reservoirs.
