After more than a decade of loyal service my Babyliss Titanium beard trimmer has given up…….

So I’m in the market for a new one, before I go out and get the newer version as a replacement are there any other recommendations?

Probably no more than about £40, nose/ear attachment a bonus…..

Funny timing… I was going to post pretty much the same question after diner! My babyliss titanium trimmer also died on me this morning halfway through a trim!

Was tempted to get a cheap one from argos (they have new version of titanium for £28 reduced from 38) but most new products ha be changed from the old. I am still using an old pair of wahl clippers on my hair… Bought a new set as backup and it’s no where near as good as the 10+ year old set

Sorry not that helpful but watching with interest!

    I use one of these:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BHXZLZR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

Only real complaint is the on/off button was super stiff when new, so I massaged a bit of oil under the button and it seems to have loosened up now. ACn’t remember if I used a drop of beard oil or a drop or sunflower oil from the kitchen, but it seems to have sorted it out.

I still use a gillette along side it for detail work, without the combs attached, as its just handier to use, and takes an AA battery so I don’t get caught out if the battery goes flat in the the other one, which is mains charged.

It’s also great for weekends away etc, as you don’t need to pack a charger, so takes up less space in baggage.

    This one:

I will say is doesn’t feel like a premium product in the hand, it feels very light, but it won’t for £20… it works absolutley fine though.

After my Remington died after 10 years, I went to a Philips One Blade. Works fine for a modest beard. The new Remington has a better recharge battery, but I never bothered. I like the portability of the one blade.

Currently using a Braun, much better than the previous couple from other brands I’ve had.

Do any of these have particularly long guards?

I’m well past the number 5 that mine goes up to & just need the one really to do all over.

I’ve actually tried 3D printing a big guard but it all went wrong.

I think your into scissor cut territory at that length, no?

Or or there’s always this combo hahaha…

    Max 45 Clipper

    Competition Comb Set

Although joking aside I think that comb kit will fit any clipper blade as long as it’s..

“For best performance use Wahl #30 Ultimate Blade, can be used with any brand #10, #15, #30”

So maybe you just have to buy a more professional type hair clipper?

I am in scissor territory and its becoming a mass of different lengths. I was hopeful of something I could just set and buzz all over giving me some kind of face ‘fro. I can shape and maintain it after that with what I already have.

Pet trimmers might be the way forward.

I bought a Philips 7000 trimmer for £40 at boots last week and it’s superb, comes with masses of attachments.

    I bought this recently:

My barber uses one, always impressed with the finish, so got one for myself. More than happy with it.

After many years with something slightly crap I treated myself to a nice Wahl cordless thing – Super Taper IIRC – and a set of colour-coded combs. For most of my beard though I’m just kind of shaping it like a ‘fro so I just use the clippers bare.

I’ve got a Phillips one that looks like this. Hugely better than the ones I’d had before. The various options just change the number of attach, rents it comes with so buy whatever you can get the best deal on.
