I’m toeing with the idea of some new bars for my 5,& been told that a wider bar is the way to go,as it works better,& just wondered what type & width you guys are using !,thx.

720 Havoc with a 70 mm stem works well for me.

It’s entirely personal.

Won’t your arm length and shoulder width be a deciding factor in stem-bar choice ?

50mm stem for me, with a cut-down Chromag OSX bar. Feels mint. Buy a long bar (say 760 or 780mm) then fit it, ride it, cut it down bit by bit to suit. Optimum length is entirely personal – think mine’s around 730 or 740mm.

About 700mm easton carbon work well

720ish I think, they were Sunline 745s that I lopped a bit off. 710s on my Stumpy FSR that feels inexplicably easier on the arms.

750 fatbar, 50mm stem.

Not on a 5, but on a 180mm Enduro bike – I run 780s with a 35mm stem.

As has been said, it’s massively subjective, but wider/shorter gives much more stability.
