Managed to pick up a shiny but cheap set of Dura Ace bar end shifters off ebay, so project geared RoadRat is go.

I’m new to all this new fangled roadie gear malarkey so what’s the form for cable routing? I’ve seen some bikes with bar end shifters with the cables routed up onto the flat of the drop bar alongside the brake cables, and others where it pops out at the front of the drops about half way up the bend.

I’m inclined towards the latter option as it seems to give a clearer run and doesn’t involve removing so much tape, but am I going to commit some horrendous faux pas in doing so?

Also, is it possible to set up a bottom pull front mech with full cable routing? If so, how?

    Cheers folks.

The latter way is how I ran them on my old tourer(fied) rigid MTB.

You could try Nokons if you want more options.
