Hi, sorry this is a bit random, but I don’t know where else I can get a quick answer! We need to get our 7week old son a passport, provided it’s printed at the right size etc, will the below photo be acceptable for his passport?

    Thanks.

Doesn’t it need the photographer’s stamp on the back, regardless of whether or not you got the proportions right?

EDIT: Very cute little guy, by the way.

I suspect the background won’t be acceptable.

Had similar recently and used post office Check&Send service. Not too bad a service IMO.

Nope, will get rejected. We tried and failed and ended up getting Jessops to do it…

We took and printed our own passport photos for our 6 month old last year. No problems at all.

Timpsons do it as a service too, at least some of them do.

Looks OK to me, I took baby photos for both of my childrens passports and they were similar to that.

Your background is plain white so can’t see why that would be a problem.

Not sure if your photo of the cool little guy will pass but a few tips:

    – pre-fill the form on-line using the passport website. They post you a completed version, you just get it endorsed and send back.

    – we used Timpsons for the photo, free reshoot if it’s not OK as the one I shot was rejected by post office on colour and background despite being good and professional printed

    – use check and send at the post office, they will advise if photo is OK

Doing all the above, our wee man had his passport back in 3 days from sending! I suspect pre-filling the form meant no checking and no data entry so it was amazingly fast.

I’ve been knocked-back before, for pics that I thought should be fine. According to the rules, they may pull you up for:
    Too much shadow.
    Background not plain/flat.
    Head slightly tilted.

Having said that, the concept of baby passport photos is a bit flawed. I have a 6 month old and his passport shows him at 3 months: he’ll still have it when he’s a 5 year old schoolboy… Probably totally useless as a form of recognition by then.

Good pic by any other standard though. Your boy looks cool.

I’d be the worst customs baby inspector on earth.
if everyone put this as their baby photo

I’d wave them through. They all look identical to me. It took me a month or so to be able to recognise my own.
