I think the most fun I’ve ever had on bike. FRZ400RR Exup. Redlined at something totally absurd, you could chuck it around like a 2 stroke. It’d eat bigger bigger bikes on a twisty road. Grin-inducingly bonkers

Looking back at all the bikess in this thread I think Vongassit has it. The original 851 really is a thing of beauty. It’s a work of art!

@scotroutes, I had one of those. I sold it for what I paid for it, but it’s still the only bike I regret selling.
By modern standards it’s a terrible bike – stupidly heavy, flexy frame, only 110hp, seriously uncomfortable (no suspension ttravel to speak of). But in its time it was truly awesome.

    I think this is beautiful.
Plenty more on Racer tv too.

In the eye of the beholder an all that, but I always wanted a Miller 150.

A long time ago I built a TL230 with the Miller HiBoy frame -TL125 engine, re-sleeved to 180cc and then stroked to just under 230cc, which involved a spacer under the barrel, longer cam chain, re-routed oilways and all that stuff. Increased external flywheel weighting, XL125 carb, external oil cooler, – XL leading axle forks (and yokes) with air conversion.
I was a toolmaker, working for a small injection moulding company, and my boss was very into motorcycle trials and so basically anything that could be done was done. I had everything at my disposal. It was almost the next best thing to a works machine and I often wonder if it still exists now.

I had a Cheney John Banks replica Mk5 MXer, put on the road, when you could sort of legally do stuff like that and, later, a Suzuki DR 400 engine in an RM250 rolling chassis, bored to 460cc and with an EI flat slide carb.

In this digital age I’d have photos of all this, step by step probably, but back then we were too busy riding – social media didn’t exist…..

Strange, for a mtb forum most bikes here are road sort of stuff. Never did it for me though.

    Happy days!

When the lottery numbers come good, there’ll be many bikes in the garage – can’t work out how to post pics, but the list (in order of importance) will be something like…
Vincent Black Shadow (as me dad had one), or Black Knight if I could find one
    RS250
RCV213 (be rude not to have the full-power version)
    Street Triple, for everyday loveliness
Mugen CR125 – a Swiss chap called Nino races an aluminium CRF-framed, Mugen-powered CR125. Want one just the same.
    TRZ750, Roberts replica’d, of course
There’s an Aussie company that builds Vincents to race spec – I’d buy a motor off them and have some kind of cafe racer built.
I would also have a 600cc V4 2 stroke built, using KTM tech.

    There will be more…

I saw this race at Wigram in 1993.

    My god it was mental.

That is a really nice RDLC Malvern.
Every time I see a Yamaha block paint job,I think of Kenny’s flat tracker..

    @ Andy R
I have my brothers old TL125 in the shed just now, possible winter project. 🙂

Met John Banks a few times when he rode for CCM.
We got to have a play on some of the team bikes.

Super busy at work, but sod it, it’s my last week so I’ve just spent a good half hour perusing this thread and reigniting my desire to have a midlife crisis and get a motorcycle. Probably not one of these but I loved ’em as a lad, the hub steering was pretty mad at the time.

    Got one of these instead:
