Anyone drive a Polestar 2?

I have the option of a Polestar 2 for my new company car and was wondering if anyone has one?

Wanted to find out if a MTB fits inside with the front wheel off?

Doesn’t @DrP have a polestar? I could be mistaken though.

EDIT – I have a roof rack and a pair of yakima highroad bike mounts.. I leave it on all year round.. slightly affects economy, but driving an EV is so cheap… meh…

Yep, mtb fits fine with front wheel off (large sized gnarpoon with 29 wheels)

Bike in the with both wheels off (Sonder Camino) with loads of room to spare, reckon you’ll get a MTB with just the front off.

The new facelift single motors are really nice with more than enough power and better range than the older ones.

A full gravelbike with guards fits in without removing anything at all.  I think a MTB would be fine

Interested as looking at ID7 tourer to be able to get an MTB in the back without wheels off. And has good range too

ID7 tourer is meant to be a great car.

As confirmed above, Polestar 2 will allow a bike inside with the seats down. Range on new versions of the Polestars seems good and I think realistically above the Audi and Mustang you mention as alternatives, and maybe the Mercedes too.

Polestar is in a smaller segment than the ID7 plus is a fairly sloping hatchback which limits overall space. ID7 tourer is only just landing in the UK and there are apparently some good lease deals to be had at the moment.

@renton I went for a LRDM as LRSM with the pilot and plus packs are like rocking horse shit.
I did Manchester to Carlisle over the weekend and I reckon it’ll do around 220 on a long run.

not great but not the end of the world, we dont do a lot of long trips, it charges much faster than the niro and it’ll take us to suitable chargers (the Niro couldnt do this). Its a much niceer place to so I’m happy to take the hit.

Mine’s a ’70 plate LRDM, with the performance upgrade..

On the earlier generations I (personally) think you’d have been daft to go single motor -it was FWD, and only about 204 bhp. On the MY24+ they seem much better – RWD, and more horses..

However, as MrChrispy has noted, it seems there’s waaay more dual motor variants in circulation.

If you can, definitely aim for the pilot and plus packs (though, i THINK in teh MY24 versions thery’ve split up the pack contents even more..). Basically, you want ACC and pilot.

It seems you can unlock the matrix headlights witha  bit of fidling..

The one of the company car list is the PS2 LRSM with pilot/plus packs. Apparently has a claimed range of 406 miles although realistically I know this will be around 320-350 in real life.

To clarify the ID7 would be the saloon version not estate

@daffy – i believe so… in the US they ‘can’t have them’, but a software fiddle opens it up..
I suspect the hardware is all in there – it’s just a software unlock.

ID7 saloon has a hatchback tail, and pretty big luggage space – would need to drop the back seats to get a bike in with wheels on. Local garage here has good deals on their launch demonstrators w lots of toys.

I’m a LRSM with the two packs.  Nice car to drive, comfortable and easy going.  Tends to have more than its fair share of gremlins with the electrics/infotainment.  Nothing show stopping but just annoying.  Volvo dealerships have long delays, certainly around my area.  I’ve had over one month wait twice to get my car in to sort out niggles with the sat nav.

Bike in back with seats down and wheel off …. no problem at all.  A full size bike box is in fact about the exact length of the boot space.

Mine is an early ’23 and the 220 mile range is about right – a shade less in winter, a bit more in summer.  Plan your stops carefully without leaving it too last minute and it’s no real hassle.  The amount and speed of charging has improved signficantly in the 18 months I’ve been electric only.

I have a MY24 LRSM Pilot Plus. Bike in the boot easily with the front wheel off. Motorway range about 280 year round.

Very happy with it coming from a Tesla Model 3. No obvious niggles, other than being a bit smaller inside in general than the Tesla. I think I wrote a more detailed piece in the EV cars thread when I got it.

One key advantage of the Polestar is they put the charge port on the left side, which is the right side, not the right side, which is the wrong side. This means you can easily use Tesla Superchargers. I did over 1000 miles the weekend before last (Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glenrothes, Fort William, Birmingham) using nothing but Tesla chargers. Not only was it a total breeze, I never paid more than 43p/kWh either.

I’m surprised the newer model LRDM’s are only around 220 miles real-world range, I get 190 from my 20 plate LE LRDM and that’s driving without efficiency in mind with crappier battery tech + 21″ wheels. Main issues IMO with the PS2 are:

1). Bit cramped/claustrophobic inside – only really an issue is you will regularly have adult passengers in the back. Visibility isn’t great either but BLISS in one of the packs helps a lot.

2). Infotainment is a bit dated now, even new models use the same tech as the original version and it was dated back then. Generally it doesn’t cause many issues though and for me is responsive enough.

3). It’s over-priced (but that’s less of an issue if leasing)

Not sure if the Polestar 4 is available for leasing yet (and when delivery would happen) but I’d go for one of those over a 2 as they don’t seem much more money (purchase price anyway), although the width might be an issue in the UK

All the people reporting 220 mile range are in the pre-2024 models.
