Argos for the real G shock, cheap enough?
Out of interest how did you get on with analogue g shock for mtbing keeping good time.
I had a shockproof other make and it didn’t like the vibrations!
I’ve got a Timex expedition, I’ve had it that long I can’t remember how old it is. It’s on its 4th strap and I keep saying the battery can’t last much longer but it just keeps going. It gets worn everyday for work.
Love my dirt cheap Casios. Use them till the battery dies after 2-3 years and buy another. They get cheaper every year! First was £15, then £10, now under £7 🙂 I have not managed to break one or kill it to death with caving, MTBing, farming, canyoning, etc. It stays on my writ 24/7 365 (unless I am going somewhere posh then I do have a nicer watch just for such occasions cause i’m a tart 🙂

The Timex looks good, I’m not so keen on cloth straps as they get stinky ime !
well, if the watch is waterproof, the answer is to wear it in the shower or bath and scrub the strap while you’re in there.
It’s what I do with mine, or else just take the strap off if it’s a NATO/ZULU one and scrub it in the sink. All watch straps get manly if they’re not washed, the rubber one that was on my Casio G-101 got really sweaty and smelly pretty quickly, the ZULU one I replaced it with is much better.
Mine looks a bit like this one, the G-100: http://www.watchshop.com/mens-casio-g-shock-alarm-chronograph-watch-g-100-1bvmur-p30376.html
I really like the simplicity of these, with the aux digital dial at the bottom. Most G-Shocks are far too complicated.
This is the model I have the G-101, not easy to find, I think it’s been discontinued:
About the only issue I have with my G-Shock is it seems to gain a fair bit; it’s now nearly two and a half minutes fast since the clocks changed, and it’s such a pain to correct it, having to hold a button down while the hands grind interminably around and around the dial.
I start to lose the will to live after a while.
My Seiko automatic is currently about fifteen seconds fast over the same period.
